The battery-powered headlights are the most ideal outdoor personal lighting appliances. The headlights are easy to use. The most attractive thing is that they can be worn on the head, which frees up your hands and gives them more free space to cook dinner, set up tents in the dark, or travel at night.
Most headlights weigh between 50 and 100 grams. If you use disposable batteries to provide power, you must carry enough spare batteries for long-distance hiking.
This will increase the weight of your backpack, but with rechargeable batteries (or lithium batteries), you only need to pack and carry the charger, which can save weight and storage space.
A lumen is a standard unit of measurement, equivalent to the amount of light emitted by a candle in one second. Lumens are also used to measure the amount of light emitted by the headlights. The higher the lumens, the more light the headlights emit. A 30-lumen headlight will suffice.
For example, most indoor lighting ranges from 200-300 lumens. Most headlamps offer a wide range of brightness output settings, so you can adjust the brightness to suit specific lighting needs.
The beam distance refers to the illuminating distance of light. The beam distance of headlights can range from as low as 10 meters to as high as 200 meters. Today, however, rechargeable and disposable battery headlights provide a standard maximum beam distance of 50 to 100 meters. It all depends on your needs, for example, how many night hikes you plan to take. If you are hiking at night, the strong light beam can help you cross the dense fog, identify the talc at the intersection of streams, or evaluate the slope of the path.
Look up the numbers from 0 to 8 after "IPX" in the product description: IPX0 means completely waterproof, IPX4 means it can handle splashed water, and IPX8 means it can be completely immersed in water. When purchasing headlights, look for products with ratings between IPX4 and IPX8.
